Beyond Reality: Uniting Communities through the Metaverse, AR, and VR in Online Education

29th May 2023 – At the Woxsen-Coursera Unconference, experts gathered to discuss the transformative potential of the metaverse, augmented reality (AR), and virtual reality (VR) in online education. Dagen Valentine, AmCham Board Member and American councils’ Country Director in Armenia, joined other panelists to share his research on developing VR makerspace communities in in rural Nebraska and recent work developing VR communities of learners within EducationUSA. The panel highlighted the power of these technologies to create inclusive and collaborative learning experiences, emphasizing the need for collaboration between educational institutions, industry partners, and technology developers to integrate these technologies effectively. As the world embraces the metaverse, AR, and VR, online education is poised to transcend boundaries, fostering a global community of learners.
