Meeting with the Chairman of Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the Armenian National Assembly, Mr. Vardan Ayvazyan

On February 12, the AmCham President and Executive Director met with the Chairman of Standing Committee on Economic Affairs of the Armenian National Assembly, Mr. Vardan Ayvazyan. The President and Executive Director introduced the mission of AmCham and its activities. In turn, Mr. Ayvazyan talked about the work of the Committee and the sphere of activities it covered. The conversation focused on the economic situation in the country in the face of its joining the Eurasian Economic Union and sanctions on Russia. Mr. Ayvazyan`s outlook in terms of the perspectives of Armenia was rather positive. According to him, Armenian businessmen, especially manufacturers, could make use of the Russian market in a more beneficial way under the current circumstances. After that, AmCham representatives talked about issues AmCham members faced while conducting their activities in Armenia. Both parties agreed that there were many areas of common interest and decided to continue cooperation on a more institutional basis. It was agreed that AmCham would be invited to the relevant Committee discussions, where it would present the position of its members on various issues under the jurisdiction of the Committee. Also, Mr. Ayvazyan eagerly agreed to serve as a speaker at one of the future AmCham events.
