On April 20, 2016, AmCham held a membership meeting with the recently appointed RA Minister of Economy, Mr. Artsvik Minasyan. The meeting was held in Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, and despite a short notice, which was due to minister’s busy schedule, 60 representatives of around 40 member companies attended the event.
The meeting was opened by AmCham President, Mr. Tigran Jrbashyan, who made a short introduction of the guest speaker and topics to be presented.
Afterwards, Mr. Minasyan discussed the general economic situation in Armenia, existing issues and challenges, as well as presented the main directions he, as a Minister, was going to pursue during his tenure. Mr. Minasyan also pinpointed the importance of foreign investment in the country and the necessary changes that need to be executed in order to assure investment flow.
After the presentation by the Minister, the representatives of AmCham member companies were given an opportunity to engage in a Q&A session with Minister.
It was decided to make such meetings regular in order to raise questions by AmCham members and check on the progress of the activities by the Ministry of Economy of RA.
