On March 19, 2013 AmCham, together with the RA State Commission on Protection of Economic Competition (SCPEC), held a meeting on Competition Challenges at the World Bank Yerevan office.
The meeting was aimed at uncovering competition issues faced by AmCham member companies from various sectors of economy, as well as discussing possible ways of improvement.
RA SCPEC President Artak Shaboyan and AmCham Board Director Gagik Arzumanyan (Armenian Copper Program) conducted the meeting.
AmCham members raised a number of competition related issues, such as free access to Armenian market, current tax and customs regimes, intellectual property rights, etc. Representatives of AmCham member companies also reflected upon industry specific issues.
Mr. Shaboyan assured the participants that all the issues raised by AmCham members would be discussed by SCPEC. Both AmCham and SCPEC agreed that similar meetings should be conducted in the future with the purpose of providing for more effective cooperation between AmCham and SCPEC and ensuring that the issues raised by AmCham members were addressed in a due manner.
